Dear colleagues,
We are about to start the next semester's seminar series, and I'd like
to offer a quick refresher on our seminar objectives and guidelines.
The primary goal of these seminars is to provide a platform for sharing
the latest research endeavors within the groups of our program and
fostering fruitful discussions. To ensure that we achieve this aim
effectively, it's necessary that we adhere to the following presentation
guidelines:
1. Presentation Length. Each presentation should be kept within a
maximum duration of 20 minutes. This timeframe allows ample room for
questions and robust discussions.
2. Audience Adaptability. Given the interdisciplinary nature of our
program, it's crucial that presentations are crafted with a broad
audience in mind. This entails providing a comprehensive and didactic
introduction that elucidates the aim and significance of your research,
outlining the methodologies employed, and offering clear explanations of
the results. This will ensure that all the people follow the
presentation and will facilite the active participation in the
discussion.
In the program, we have a broad range of backgrounds, which is a unique
opportunity to leverage different perspectives and insights for each
project. I encourage everyone to actively participate in discussions and
questions, regardless of their level of familiarity with the topic. Even
the simple question you can have will bring an intriguing discussion and
shed new light on the research at hand. So, use these seminars for this.
Lastly, I encourage attendance at these seminars even if the background
of the topics is far from your research field. The speakers invest time
and effort into preparing their presentations; your presence
demonstrates support and fosters a collaborative atmosphere.
Overall, I think we are doing well!! So, before finalizing, I want to
thank you for your participation and the quality of the presentations
overall. Let's continue sharing our time and science in the next
semester!!
See you soon!
Sara
