Dear colleagues,

Regarding our new Severo Ochoa proposal, I would like to inform you of a
last-minute adjustment regarding the Scientific Director role. Based on
information from multiple sources that, unfortunately, I had only gathered
recently, it has become increasingly clear that for the third renewal of the
SO, the Scientific Director is expected to meet not only a strong scientific
track record, but also a significant experience in industry contracts and
knowledge/technology transfer activities.

With this in mind, always with the sole intention of strengthening the
chances of our application, and in full agreement with Johannes Gierschner,
I have opted to name Emilio as Scientific Director of the SO proposal. His
profile aligns more closely with evaluator´s expectations and guidelines in
this call. I am sincerely grateful to Emilio for accepting this
responsibility at such short notice and to Johannes for accepting the change
with an elegant and professional attitude.

I want to express my most sincere appreciation to Johannes, whose scientific
insight, clarity, and commitment have been instrumental in driving the
proposal forward. His ability to keep things focused and well-structured is
very valuable and he will continue to play a central role in shaping the
scientific direction of the program. Beyond this, his ongoing involvement in
our broader institutional strategy remains essential and deeply valued.

I trust you will understand the reasoning behind this decision, adopted in
the spirit that has brought us this far, to present a proposal that reflects
the strength, ambition, and unity of our Institute.
